I trained at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art as a graphic designer and went on to work as an architectural draftsman, and to train as a technical illustrator, I eventually got a job as a graphic designer. So I was part of the transition from drawing board to computer and from still to moving images. I eventually became a multimedia manager but I missed the old drawing board.
Now I’m retired and working from my shed in Leighton Buzzard, where I spend my time creating lino prints. I’ve always been inspired by nature and by the early monochrome illustrations in the Radio Times, which I loved as a child.
I enjoy lino printing because it’s really difficult – it demands patience, precision, and care, none of which I have in abundance – and that’s what makes it so satisfying when a print finally comes together, the reality is they don't all work - at least not in the way you expected!
